Considering the life He gives

Photo by lucas Favre on Unsplash I am surprised by how easy it is to be aware of the negative, of everything wrong here and now. I am amazed by how easy it is to focus on death instead of life. Here I am not talking about being positive, of always looking at the bright side for the sake of sanity, at the cost of ignoring all of reality. And, sometimes, there is nothing positive in our circumstances or emotions we could hold on to, humanly speaking. His message, last Sunday, invited us to consider all the benefits that come from His Person and Work. He challenged us to contemplate the whole ministry of God the Son and delight in the salvation, reconciliation, and adoption He provides for us. Yes, there is real life in Him and because of Him. The Westminster divines put it this way: What are the benefits which in this life do accompany or flow from justification, adoption, and sanctification? The Distinctive Nature of Computer Science Education

Photo by Steve Johnson on Unsplash I'd like to share some reflections on what distinguishes Computer Science education from other academic disciplines. As a CS educator with a keen interest in the intersection of faith and learning, inspired by the work of theologians like John Owen, I believe it's essential to articulate this field's unique characteristics, particularly in the context of fostering inclusivity for minority groups. 1. Examples like global connectivity apps and AI for societal issues show how it expands our abilities to change the world. The field demands logical reasoning, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking – core human traits. Therefore, as educators, we are not just t...

Leadership Lessons from President Trump

Photo by Michael Schofield on Unsplash C.S. Lewis wrote, on his sermon The Weight of Glory, that there is no ordinary people, that we have never spoken with a mere mortal. This truth has served me well, since over the years I have learned that no matter who I interact with, that person can be God's instrument to show me something about myself and, maybe, even about His Beauty. Learning from anyone, then, it is a sign of spiritual maturity. I am not saying it is an easy task, and I am not saying it is a painless task. Learning from anyone, considering every single person I interact with non-ordinary and non-merely-mortal, does not mean I must accept everything that person stands for. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. - The Apostle Paul to the Thessalonians So, yes, I can learn a lesson or two about leadership from president Trump. And yes, just in case ...
