Update 2024
I am now an Assistant Pastor at a PCA church near downtown Atlanta. I am also in my second year teaching full-time at Norcross High School - I teach Computer Science and Intro to Software Tech. Because I need to be certified as a public school teacher, the district is providing me with a Master of Arts in Teaching through the GENERATE Program at Mercer University.

I don't know what will happen with our small business this year.

I am still healing from last year's wounds.

Update 2023

After 15 years of working in establishing a culturally diverse church, we had to close down our local congregation. It was a deeply sad day, but given the conditions and needs of our families, it was the best pastoral decision for the Kingdom.

Now, I must find another call within 3 years in order to keep my credentials as a Teaching Elder in the PCA.

Your prayer support will be greatly appreciated.

Update 2022
After a year of our country's new administration, and considering where we are in the pandemic and current personal developments, I have decided to change the name of this blog to OwenTalks. John Owen was a great theologian, teacher, and pastor. He was deeply involved in the politics of his time without disregarding his call to care for his congregation. He did not see a conflict among the different elements of his ministry but considered them as complements of each other, and when the time came to decide, he chose to follow his Redeemer instead of the law of the land; he was a non-conformist, i.e. a rebel.

A great theologian, a concerned teacher, all with a shepherd's heart.

Those are my aspirations, too.

What this project is all about

I'm writing this blog out of a sense of responsibility and obligation. This sense has become deeper after a period of time in the history of our nation that concluded with the Presidential Election of 2020. Over this time I have seen the radicals hijack the conversation about the issues we all face, issues as important as social justice, immigration, national defense and our role in the world, and the sanctity of all human life.

Now, I see the radicals' flawed arguments making their way into the life of people near and dear to me.

I am concerned.

Recently also, the LORD has shown me that He has provided the means for me to say something about it. Always the true living and generous God that Jehovah is, He has also given me what to say; I am under no pretense of believing these ideas are the result of my natural strength and capacity.

Because of Providence, then, I am hopeful.

Then, my purpose is simply:

  1. To be as faithful as possible with what the Triune God of the Universe has given me.
  2. To express, as clearly as possible, where I stand.
  3. To be an example for others who gravitate toward the center, that they may be encouraged to add their voices to our national conversation.
AlexusMinimus is one way I will pursue this three-fold purpose.

It is time to work as hard as the radicals to set the Truth free. This is not an issue of winning; a positive outcome is not for sure. This is not an issue of demonstrating my superiority; I am but a sinner saved by God's grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

No, this is an issue of responsibility and obligation.

Values, Directives, and Rules of Engagement
As I write each post here, I promise I will...

  • Always tell the Truth.
  • Examine my own life first.
  • Ask God to help me in decreasing, more and more, the difference between how I am living my life and the Truth.
  • Engage in dialogue with humility, compassion, and generosity.
  • Not promote violence of any type against anyone.
  • Walk away from foolish conversations.
  • Keep the here and now in perspective, remembering the glory that is to come.

And just to be sure: All opinions posted in AlexusMinimus, unless otherwise clearly expressed, belong to me,  Alejandro Villasana, and they are not, necessarily, the opinions of any of my employers, denomination, family members, or friends.
